A-1 Group

Island Ukuleles "A-1" is our senior performing ensemble within the Island Ukuleles organization. Students in grades 7-12 who have attained a high level of musical excellence and proficiency on their ukuleles are eligible to audition for this ensemble. Students in this ensemble are eligible to receive high school graduation credits.

Under the direction of Mrs. Tina Horwood, Island Ukuleles "A-1" is well known for its instrumental and vocal excellence. The ensemble performs a wide range of music which is sure to appeal to most audiences. The "A-1" ensemble performs numerous local concerts throughout the year. The group also tours Canada and internationally and have become well known in Seattle and Hawaii.

The A-1 ensemble will be returning to Hawaii in March 2010.

Tina Horwood is a beacon of energy and enthusiasm, Tina is an alumna of "Island Ukuleles", a director and a great inspiration to her students. She has been directing the group for 19 years and continues to instill high expectations for musical skill development in the areas of vocal and instrumental technique. On a personal level Tina encourages her students to step forward and lead with confidence!
