A-2 and A-3 Groups
Students with one year or equivalent instruction in ukulele are eligible to join one of our Island Ukuleles A-2 and A-3 groups in April of every year. The A-2 and A-3 ensembles are "feeder groups" to the A-1 ensemble. The students are placed in groups according to their experience and ability, and they work on mastering specific skills and repertoire, leading to the attainment of bronze, silver and gold pins.
Both A-2 and A-3 groups are offered at two different locations in Greater Victoria.
The Braefoot Elementary group is directed by Mindy Myttenar, Janelle Hunt, and Jacqueline Czar. The Braefoot group meets on Tuesday evenings, at Braefoot Elementary School, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Directors of the Oak Bay A-2 and A-3 groups are Jill Benton and Alex Jang. The Oak Bay group meets on Monday evenings, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Oak Bay Secondary.
The students in both divisions participate in a number of concerts, both on their own, and with the Island Ukuleles A-1 group, throughout the year. Please see our performances page for upcoming performances
